Papercrane

Send SMS from your dashboards. No Twilio account required.

No Brand to register, no Campaign to get approved, no Tax ID to submit. Ask Papercrane's AI agent to text an order update, a reminder, or an alert, and it sends from a number that is already registered.

The registration you don't fill out

Same job, texting a customer, two different forms.

What it actually asks for

Registering your own Twilio number

  • Your legal business name, Tax ID, business type, industry, and website (“so carriers know you are a legitimate sender”)

  • Up to five Campaigns per Brand, each declaring your use case, a sample message, how people opt in, and your opt out and HELP language

  • A daily volume cap tied to your tier: about 3,000 messages as a Sole Proprietor, about 6,000 on Low-Volume Standard, higher only after a Trust Score review

  • Then: wait for approval

Send.

The right column is not a summary of the left one. It is the whole list.

Brand and Campaign requirements, Tax ID rule, and volume tiers per Twilio's A2P 10DLC registration overview; the two Papercrane fields per the sms.send function signature.

What sending a text usually asks of you first

The compliance program before the first message.

US carriers require A2P 10DLC registration, a Brand plus up to five Campaigns, before you can send application to person SMS at any real volume. That is a review process, not a signup form. Papercrane's number is already registered, so you skip the review entirely.

The price that depends on someone else's carrier.

Twilio's own pricing lists a $0.0083 base rate per segment in the US, then a separate carrier fee on top, with no total shown until you check your bill. Every message you send through Papercrane returns its real price at send time, the exact number Twilio charged, not a flat rate.

AT&T +$0.0035
T-Mobile +$0.0045
Verizon +$0.0045

The cap you hit before you scale.

Registering as a Sole Proprietor caps you near 3,000 messages a day; Low-Volume Standard raises that to about 6,000. Getting past that means a Trust Score review of your own Brand. Papercrane's number carries its own registration, so your first campaign doesn't start against a ceiling built for a business that hasn't sent a message yet.

$0.0083 base rate per outbound segment, plus the carrier fee shown, per Twilio's US SMS pricing.

Texts your dashboard already has a reason to send

The status update.

An order shipped, an invoice posted, an account changed: the same event your dashboard already tracks, sent as a text instead of waiting for someone to check an inbox. For example: "Your order #4821 shipped. Track it: [link]."

The threshold alert.

A message only when a metric crosses a line you chose. A quiet week sends nothing.

The reminder.

A renewal coming up, an appointment approaching, a report that's ready: timed by your dashboard's data, not a calendar you maintain separately.

Every send returns a delivery status, queued through delivered or undelivered with an error code on failure, so a message that didn't land doesn't go unnoticed.

When you don't need us

If you're running segmented SMS campaigns to an opted in list, welcome series, abandoned cart texts, promotions, Klaviyo is built for that: list growth, deliverability reputation, and campaign automation at volume are its whole product, and we don't do list management or marketing sends at all. If you need two way conversations, a customer replying and someone on your team replying back, a real support inbox like Gorgias is built for that; Papercrane's SMS is one way, dashboard to person. It's worth connecting when the message is a status update, an alert, or a reminder your dashboard already has the data for, and reaching someone just means a phone number.

1. Ask the agent to text a customer, or set an alert threshold in Papercrane

2. It sends

3. Delivery status and the real per message price land back with it

4. When a source errors, the agent repairs the dashboard automatically

Removing the registration step doesn't remove your consent obligations: you're still responsible for having permission to text each recipient, and STOP replies are honored automatically through Twilio's own opt out handling.

Questions people ask us

SMS reaches someone who won't open an email or check a dashboard. Most teams pair it with email for the written record and the source that triggered the message in the first place.
